Hi All,

Friends of G.P.U.C Hiriadka (1999-2001 batch) had picnic to Nandi Hills on 22nd September 2007.
This happy moments were shared by
  • Guruprasad
  • Ravikirana
  • Rajesh Shetty
  • Ranjith
  • Rohith Rao
  • Rajesh Nayak
We left bangalore on 22nd september 2007 @ about 6pm from mejestic without Rajesh Nayak as he was busy with his work. He has been promised to meet us on next morning. We had our glorious journey in K.S.R.T.C Bus. We reached chikkaballapura @ about 8pm & booked room in SAI lodge(walk by distance from junior college stop, chikkaballapura).
Coincidentally its a special day for all the indians too. as Indians on fight with Australians for Twenty20 world cup 2007. Its added more feathers to our trip as india won the semifinal clash against GREAT Australians!. We enjoyed every moment of that match with our friends as all the friends were very much keen in cricket. We used to play a lot of crickets during our PUC life. We used play even exams got cancelled (Hope u guys remember that 'physics exam' day!).
We had rocking party ;) till late night & tired bodies took rest @ about 3AM in the morning(Except Rohith?)!!. We also had brief explanation about electostatic emission by Mr. Guruprasad before Ravi's milk explanation! :)
Morning we got up @ about 8am after sun? . Actual plan was to watch sunrise @ Nandi Hills. But sun has cheated us by getting up early without informing us. :(
But some how we managed to get ready @ 9am & got bus to Nandi Hills @ 9.30am.

G.P.U.C. Hiriadka Friends (1999-2001 batch) @ Wayanad, Kerala

This is the second trip of G.P.U.C. Hiradka friends. First one was to Nandi Hills in 2007.
We are able to arrange one more after 2 years.

So after 3 months discussion we are able to finalize the date to 27th & 28th of Feb 2010.

Destination is nothing but God's own country.... i.e KERALA........
Many guys showed good interest in organizing & planning the trip. :-)

So finally 10 soldiers were ready to rock Wayanad, Kerala.
Here they comes

- Guruprasad - Ravikiran - Rajesh Shetty (Myself) - Vasanth - Rohith - Rajesh Nayak - Krishna Prasad - Nithyananda - Sandeep
And last not the least Dr.Sukesh

Appreciate Rajesh Nayak coming from Hyderbad, Guru from Chennai after completing his seminar & Sukesh from Mangalore.
It was the first get to gather of these many friends after almost 9 great years.

First regarding Wayanad, Kerala,
Wayanad, in the north-east of Kerala , India , was formed on November 1 , 1980 as the 12th district, carved out of Kozhikode and Kannur districts. The meaning of the word Wayanad is Vayal (paddy) Naad (land); 'Land of Paddy Fields'. There are many indigeneous tribals in this area. It is set lofty on the western Ghats with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2100 Metres above mean sea level.

      Ok. Lets start now.
We have planned to depart bangaluru at mid night. But due to timing constraints of some of our friends, we thought of starting at 5AM on 27th Feb.

So booked Tempo Traveler for our journey.

We (Rajesh, Vasanth, Nithyananda, Sandeep, Ravikiran & KP) Started from Padmanabhanagar (Thats where i am staying) towards mejestic to pick Guru & Rajesh Nayak at 3.20am.

Reached Mejestic at 3.45am & picked our Mitsubishi Guru, who just finished one seminar at chennai & directly flied to bangalore.

Then waiting for Rajesh Nayak, who has to come from Hyderbad. he reached at 4.30am. During that time we had a very hot tea near mejestic railway station!!
Then we moved towards vijayanagar to pick rockstar Rohith!.

We left to mysore at 4.50am from vijayanagar.
Most of the people half of their sleep when we left. You can see that in the pic.

Previous night hardly had 1-2 hrs sleep.
Everybody had a formal greeting as they got into TT.
Then started towards mysore to pick Sukesh. Most of the guys had a small nap on the go and TT was enjoying high way road.

We have reached Mysore at 7.15am. Some of the guys were busy in rinsing film posters!!!!!!! one was targetting latest release Suryakanthi, other Aptharakshaka & police quarters. We thanked god that there were no Vishnuvardhan fans.....

People who has done this hard work will understand what i meant. others may not. Leave that for time being.

Lets move on....

I forgot to tell there was a serious discussion regarding mysore palace shift as we didnt see the palace where we have parked the TT. So we thought it must have shifted to some other place!!!!!
Later some guys realized that palace is not shifted anywhere........ ;-)

Next we moved towards Gundlupete, where we had breakfast @ Udupi Upahara at 8.15am. Food was good.. Recommended for any future trips..!!

Next reached Kerala border at 10am. there need to pay tax.

It was taking too much time, so we thought not to waste time. So started our best game.. CRICKET ... on road cricket..
It was fun as lots of fielders surrounding bat & have to play 2 overs....!

Atlast at 11am we crossed border..

Then reached Sulthan bathery, where we have planned to stay. Hey guys we have seen some deers on the way in muthanga..
We have boarded at 'Eastern Home Stay' in sulthan bathery & got refreshed & got ready for Edakkal Cave at 1pm. Reached base of edakkal cave at 1.30 as it near to suthan bathery. Had lunch over there in one mess with fish frys n all.

At 2 started trekking to the edakkal. It was steep place, as our stomach was full it was taking time to climb. It was nice and cool place.

Edakkal Cave: This location of breathtaking beauty is 25 kilometres from Kalpetta. The Edakkal cave in the Ambukuthy mountain, is not a cave in the real sense. As stated in the India Antiquary (Vol.XXX, page - 410) and quoted in the District Gazette, Kozhikode, it is only'a cleft about 96ft. long and 22ft wide in the rock'. It is a fissure made by a corner of rock splitting off from the main body due to some natural causes. The depth of both the cleft and the fissure is 30 ft. What makes it a cave to the ordinary observer is the fact that in the other portion of the large cleft, an enormous rock, weighing several tonnes, has fallen forming a roof over a large part of it. The rock wall contains some interesting carvings, which represent human and animal figures and objects of human use and symbols. These carvings speak of a highly civilized people of pre-historic age and inspires the archaeologists and historians to rewrite the history of Wayanad and Kerala as a whole.

At 4pm we completed edakkal trekking.....

Then we moved towards MEENMUTTY Falls. When we reached there everybody told it has been closed. But we were not in the mood to come back. so requested there with the guards & finally very excited to fall onto cold water.....!!!!

Meenumutty falls, located 29km from kalpetta in wayanad district, is a three tiered waterfall with a height of 300metres. meenmutty falls, largest & most spectacular waterfall in the wayanad, is a 2 km hike through the jungle from the main ooty road. It is Kerala's second largest waterfall & one of most unspoiled falls. The path is quite dangerous & tiring but the waterfall makes the strain of the trek more than worth. We were tired like anything. We came to know what is tiredness as we were not feeling that while sitting in AC & hitting keyboard.!!!!!

We got into water & fell under falls. It was unforgettable experience as water force was unbearable. Some time we felt like our bone will get fractured. that much force. ITS Amazing............:-)

Ravi had nice experience as we drown him in water for some time.;)

Again while coming back it was sweating like anything in the evening at 7pm!!!!

But we had a nice experience, everybody enjoyed a lot.......

We reached room at 8pm. Brought parcel.. Had Party.. Sorry cant write in detail.

it was very interacting session as the discussion topic was 'marriage'...

we hit bed at 2am, 4am....!!!

28-02-2010

==========

Got ready at 9am & moved towards pookot lake. its around 50kms from sulthan bathery. It is a natural fresh water lake, brimmed with ever green mountains. Boating facilities are also available. Handicraft items were there for sale.

On the way we went to Karapuza dam at 10.15am

& reached pookot lake at 12.20pm. Enjoyed paddle boating. First & best experience........ we have taken 3 boats together.

Again it was a wonderful experience.

Spent lot of time there by bird watching!!! most of the birds were in pair ;-)

Left lake at 2.30pm

Some on the way scenarios
